A common theme that runs through my courses, research, and personal life is the importance of being deliberate. I think we are at our best when we are deliberate about our writing, our thinking, and our actions.

One of my hobbies is acrylic painting and I’m especially proud of these ones. They are a combination of my deliberate choices and the concrete peculiarities of circumstances outside of my control.

These paintings are one way that I practice being deliberate. My aim as a teacher is to help other people be more deliberate in ways that matter to them.
